What makes these pallets so great is the use of plywood itself which is a very sturdy kind of wood with a high, uniform kind of strength. It is free from swelling, warping and shrinking and this balanced construction makes plywood pallets a great option for storage and transportation. The type of wood used is best identified by the kind of tree that is used and if the said tree sheds its leaves on an annual basis.

When a pallet properly supports your product, it may be possible to lower the cost of packaging needed to protect your product. One last feature to consider when delving into pallet design is process efficiency. Two-way pallets offer forklift openings on only two ends while four-way pallets offer openings on all four sides to increase accessibility. What makes plastic pallets so popular is the fact that they can be used for super long periods of time without experiencing any breakage.

The most popular types of wood used in the construction of wooden pallets are oak and pine. The third way to distinguish pallets is by the material used to create them. Many stringer pallets are often notched in order to create a four-way forked entry which results in two types of these pallets; the one with block designs and those with notched stringers. Pallets are flat structures that provide a foundation for storing or transporting goods. They are made from a variety of materials including wood, metal and plastic.

Pallet Living Wall

The most common type of hardwood used in pallets is oak and the most common softwood is pine. Typically, they are made of hardwood or softwood, which is best defined by the type of tree used and whether or not the tree loses its leaves annually. One of the key ways to identify a stinger pallet is the length of the stringer, followed by the width and then the length of the deckboards that comes second. While this blocks the entry from those two ends, it also makes more room for its ability to bear extra weight. Stringers pallets are quite popular and are most commonly used in the United States.

Although metal pallets are very sturdy and long lasting, they make up a small percentage of the pallet market. Steel and aluminum are the two most popular types of metal used for pallets. These pallets are incredibly lightweight which makes it fairly easy to use them for storage and transport purposes. Their main popularity stems from the fact that can be repaired very easily, are super strong and durable and they deliver great performance.

Moreover, the discarded material piles, junkyards, dumping grounds, and sometimes the roadsides can also be the best sources to find free pallets near me. Some of the key benefits offered by metal pallets are that they can easily be reused multiple times, be sanitized when needed, and do not get infested by pests. Brand new metal pallets range from $60 to $120 depending on size and type of metal.

It’s flat, makes for rapid follow-up shots and can be used for extended range sessions without undue fatigue. If you’re planning on taking classes with high round counts, it’s a great choice. Of course, even if you’re not, it’s still a great choice. Our flagship holster, the Protos-M, is the result of countless hours of design, prototyping and testing resulting in the best hybrid holster on the market today. Our patented ¾ hybrid shell gives the perfect blend of adjustable, repeatable and safe retention usually reserved for full Kydex holsters. With Kydex wrapping the trigger guard you never have to worry about the backer collapsing in on itself, making it safer than traditional hybrids. As an avid gun owner and concealed carry enthusiast, finding great holsters has always been a priority for me.

I deliberately banged up against objects to see if I could dislodge the holster, but it stayed exactly where I put it. The ANR Right-Handed Quick Ship Standard Outside the Waistband Holster has undoubtedly exceeded my expectations. Its durability, simple design, and ease of use make it a standout option in the vast sea of holsters available on the market. It’s a bit on the high end, with an MSRP of $85, but it’s also a great holster that will likely last a very long time. It’s also red-dot-ready, which is a must in today’s market.

We designed our buckle in house to be minimalist and low profile; it’s CNC machined out of aluminum and hard coat anodized for durability. The belt itself is made from ultra durable polymer coated nylon webbing making it water proof, scratch resistant and more durable than leather. It’s strong enough to comfortably support your holster and has the looks to make it at home in the office or out on the town.

Some holsters may have sections of pattern or lack of pattern because it's a camouflage, not a fashion statement. Despite ANR Design’s ever-growing success, Costa seems to never lose sight of his good fortune as a key collaborator in the success of others in the gun industry. According to Costa, “Politics certainly boost panic buying and sales. Economic unrest and fear of the government or looting boosts sales. War boosts sales on our military sales side of the business. As anyone with the slightest firearms acumen might imagine, the current political climate and our ongoing pandemic have played significant roles in ANR Design’s business.

ANR Design Staccato C2 Appendix IWB RH Holster with Polymer Claw - Black

And, from the way Costa treated strangers to the way he treated Zach, me, and the dogs … I know he gives a damn. Pair that with our Dri-Matrix backer and you might just forget that its there. Padded and breathable, the Protos-M’s Dri-Matrix keeps you cool and comfortable in the hottest conditions. With adjustable ride height, customize your carry just the way you like it and carry with confidence. With an MSRP of $68.99, this holster falls right in line with its competition, price-wise.

Available for a wide range of guns, with a nice range of options as well.

Teamwork & Collaboration is not only internal, but external. ANR collaborates intellectually and artistically with other manufacturers and brands for product development and market penetration. Customer Commitment – ANR prides itself on friendly customer service responses and response time. You will speak with an employee of ANR Design, not a call center. ANR Design was originally started in a moldy basement in the west side of Manchester, New Hampshire. ANR is now a global brand that helps build and provide equipment for all walks of life from the civilian sector to Military elite.

Committing to a handgun of larger proportions means you’re more amenable to full-size gear, and a more sizeable handheld flashlight is a great piece of kit to have with you. We’ve added the PowerTac M5 G3 flashlight to this kit for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is the whopping 2,000+ lumens on its highest setting. It’s also impact- and water-resistant, has a lanyard included and a rechargeable battery. Whether you’re a fan of the .45 ACP, big-bore pistols in general or are just hedging against future ammunition shortages, having a pistol in something other than 9 mm isn’t a bad idea at all. FN’s new FN 545 Tactical is a great choice for anyone looking for a big-bore, striker-fired polymer pistol, and offers great capacity and utility. In any case, it represents another choice for the concealed-carry practitioner as well as a smart move on FN’s part to expand the company’s striker-fired offerings.

Once I realized that the trigger reset much later than the striker-fired pistols with which I am familiar, the failures stopped immediately. Keep this in mind and you’ll find the Reflex to be ridiculously reliable. With the push-button, the 110 can be opened with one hand, ideal for emergency situations (or simply when one hand is already full). Included with the 110 is a leather belt pouch, and Buck does offer other models of 110 with pocket clips and thumbstuds if that’s more to your liking. For this kit, the 110 Auto blends the traditional with the new, making it a perfect fit with the new High Power.

The adjustable retention screws allowed me to customize the holster's tightness, although it was set right from the factory. Simple and rugged, the Standard Outside Waistband’s sandwich design features full trigger guard coverage and excellent retention. As with the Appendix above, there’s also a branded version directly available from FN.

It was this kind of personal investment that made ownership of their company— and their dream—so much more valuable to them than what it was worth financially at the time. Costa’s list of friends (such as Zach Hein) and mentors aren’t too far from his mind. Costa said Josh Eastman of Beyond the Brand Media certainly started out as a mentor for him when he first launched his business.

Our restaurant concepts have proven stiff competition in a tough industry because they all work to fill a niche. We currently operate 23 restaurants with 6 different concepts in California, Arizona, Colorado,  Nevada, and Washington and we're growing! Our restaurant concepts include the Water Grill (7), Pier Burger, 555 East, Lou & Mickey's, Meat On Ocean, and the King's Fish House (12) establishments. In 1983, Jeff and Sam King signed their first lease together, and on the day before Thanksgiving, 6 weeks before the '84 Olympics, we opened our first concept, 555 East Steakhouse, and we still own and operate the restaurant today. King's Seafood is family owned and operated, and has been growing and evolving for over 70 years!

Smart Seafood from our Backyard: California Market Squid

In 1945, Lou and Mickey King (Jeff and Sam King's respective fathers), began to build the King's Restaurant network throughout Southern California... We're convinced that wild fisheries are unable to meet the world’s growing demand for nutritious seafood. We're working with various stakeholders (from ocean science to seafood business to government) to better define “sustainability” in terms that respect the diversity of our Guests’ interests and priorities. Our Kids Menu features eight pages of activities, including temporary tattoos and stamps. A unique West Coast seafood experience, the Dungeness Crab are known for their sweet and delectable meat.

We're all about Family

Six weeks before the 1984 Olympics, we opened our first concept, 555 East, and we still own and operate the restaurant today. At that time, our company was called University Restaurant Group, a name inspired by the ‘friendly’ rivalry of USC and UCLA, Sam and Jeff's respective alma maters, and we held that name until 1998. Since then they've proven to be successful operators, and they've cultivated the art of delivering a quality product and a great Guest experience in all economic environments. They learned a lot from their fathers and Sam and Jeff continue to teach, guide and lead us to great adventures. Their dedication and commitment to the industry, the product, and the people has resulted in a profitable, successful, and growing company.

What do we think about Seafood?

In addition, to our full menu, a special three-course Valentine’s Day menu will be available for $80, including a starter, an 8-oz. Filet Mignon and South African Lobster Tail with your choice of sides, and a dessert.

King's Seafood Company has evolved through over 70 years of family restaurant business experience. In 1945, Lou and Mickey King, Jeff and Sam King's respective fathers, began to build the King's Restaurant chain throughout Southern California. After a hugely successful run of almost 40 years, the family sold the chain of six restaurants to Tiny Naylor's, Inc. in 1982.

As part of this transition, Sam went to work for Tiny Naylor’s and Jeff went to sit on the 1984 Olympic Committee which was to be hosted in Los Angeles. The Carriage Club, a restaurant in Long Beach, was on the market and Sam went with Tiny Naylor’s to look at the prospect of the space. He called Jeff and proposed they start their own venture and take over this location as their first project. Jeff agreed and they signed their first lease the day before Thanksgiving in 1983.

Pull up a chair and get those crab crackers ready to enjoy these delicious crustaceans. The Western Australian Rock Lobster (Panulirus cygnus) is found primarily on the West Coast of Australia. Not normally available in the United States as a live product, you’ll find them swimming in our saltwater tanks today, for a limited time. The world's largest species of flatfish is here, all the way from the central Gulf of Alaska! We offer several preparations during the season, including pan-seared, grilled and Macadamia nut-crusted Halibut. What Is A French Balcony On A Cruise Ship?

what is a veranda on a cruise ship

The cheapest would be a single room with windows facing a porthole or one that doesn’t open. Remember to book a room that would comfortably accommodate all of you, especially on long-distance cruises. Nothing can spoil your trip than a night spent curled up in an uncomfortable position. While you lay in bed in the evenings, you can watch the incredible sunset as well, with the lights slowly fading on the horizon.

How to Get From the Fort Lauderdale Airport (FLL) to the Miami Cruise Port

She has worked in the cruise industry since 2015 and has taken over 30 cruises. Now, she helps over 1 million people per month to plan their perfect cruise holidays. It’s worth noting that some ships have a veranda that you can only use when the ship is in port. These will be at the front of the ship, where the winds are strong when the ship is in motion.

Next to the desk, a set of drawers included a cabinet with a minifridge inside.

Book a Sea Terrace on the line's Scarlet Lady, Resilient Lady or Valiant Lady and you'll get a balcony equipped with chairs and a small table plus a hammock swing attached to the ceiling. Embrace your inner kid and swing to your heart's content while you enjoy fresh air and sea views. On the newest ships of lines such as MSC Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line, you'll find suites occupying the corners, but other ships have more affordable balcony cabins in this location. Be aware when booking rear-facing balconies that your space might not have much shade and that you will feel more movement than you would in a cabin in the middle of the ship. These beloved cabins are not necessarily the best for those who get seasick.

Airlines

For example, if I search for "Independence of the Seas Balcony Room," I can find several short videos that will walk me through a room similar to the one I'm staying in. While cruises can be a great choice for remote work, there are certain things you need to consider before you write a to-do list, set meetings, and prepare for a productive time. Here are three things in particular to keep in mind that I've gathered from my own experience while working at sea. It’s a welcome and fitting addition to the dragon and prayer wheel sculptures on its two sister ships. The ship’s interior spaces are crafted by Miami-based Studio DADO, which has put its mark on sister lines Oceania Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line.

Riverview Cabins

On average, a Family Oceanview room will have 299 sq ft of space (including the verandah), compared to 249 in the smaller standard Oceanviews. The actual veranda for these rooms is often bigger than the whole interior or ocean view stateroom – there’s plenty of space for your whole group to unwind. It is nice to wake up, wander to your balcony in your dressing gown and soak up the early morning sun. But you could save hundreds by opting for an inside or ocean view cabin instead, which could be put towards excursions or even another cruise. The view from these is obstructed by the lifeboats hanging on the ship. If you plan carefully, you can get a cheaper veranda stateroom with an obstructed view that’s between two lifeboats, so that your view is only partially blocked.

The best views

However, choosing the right type of accommodation is crucial to ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable stay. If you're looking for a room with a view and a breath of fresh air, then a veranda cabin might be the perfect choice for you. A veranda cabin, also known as a balcony cabin, comes with a private outdoor space offering stunning ocean views.

The most crucial guideline of all is to never leave kids unsupervised outside on the veranda. Accidents can still happen even with barriers and guard rails installed to protect your privacy and safety. This makes your cruise living room feel more like a private haven where you may unwind, eat, or sunbathe in peace and quiet. In your bedroom, the sea breeze and natural light create a tranquil and soothing atmosphere.

Best time to book a Cruise

So, should you pay extra to get a cabin with a veranda on a cruise ship? In summary, you can admire the incredible scenic view on the veranda of your luxurious and comfortable cabin. With a veranda, there’s no need to go out just to witness the wonders of the sea. The veranda is an extension of your stateroom or cabin that is exposed to the sea. You can open your door’s cabin and step out to the veranda, where you can sit, relax, and enjoy the sea air. For example, cruise lines break down all the cabins within the same category (for example, all outside cabins) into subcategories, based on location, layout, size and perks.

What are the cheapest cruise ship cabins?

what is a veranda on a cruise ship

If your cabin comes with a veranda, you’ll likely be higher up and further out from the ship’s center, placing you in an area with more motion. You get to enjoy the sea breeze and natural light, creating an ambiance of serenity and relaxation in your stateroom. Suites are not only about spacious digs, but also about the VIP perks and privileges that come with the booking. An example is choosing a cabin near the elevators if you’re with a person with a disability. You may also want to book a cabin near the dining area or laundry room to facilitate the accessibility of these services.

You’ll need enough room to sit down, unwind, and breathe in the sea breeze. Since neighboring verandas are frequently close to one another, the privacy provided by the dividers between them might not be perfect. While everyone can enjoy the beauty in common areas and on public decks, having a veranda lets you do so without having to deal with outsiders. Even among luxury cruise lines, they frequently use both terms interchangeably, so there is no clear definition for who should use which.

This unique design features a floor-to-ceiling window that can be lowered with the push of a button, transforming the cabin into an open-air space. Passengers can enjoy the fresh air and panoramic views without having to step outside. AmaWaterways has introduced twin balcony staterooms, which offer the best of both worlds. These cabins feature a French balcony and a standard exterior balcony, providing passengers with options for enjoying the views and the fresh air.

They will often have features such as roll-in showers with benches, wider doorways, smooth thresholds and lowered sinks and counters. For cruise lines offering promotions where you choose your favorite booking perk, suite passengers often get all the freebies instead of one or two or higher amounts of onboard credit. Typically, inside cabins are smaller and cheaper; suites are larger and more expensive. Here's a closer look at the different cabin types you can choose when you book your cruise.

Port Elizabeth’s Route 67 offers 67 art installations to mark each of the 67 years Mandela fought against apartheid and for the rights of all South Africans. The great continent of Africa is a destination that runs wild with exciting culture and adventures. This continent, considered the first place where humans lived, is filled with history. The continent is so large, cruising around it takes a while, but you can explore many regions of the island with cruises that depart from Cairo in the north western corner to Cape Town way down at the bottom. Sail from Accra, Ghana on the western coast or experience the island life in Madagascar and Mauritius as you leave on a cruise from Port Louis, off the coast of Africa.

More destinations to explore

The Cape of Good Hope at the southern tip of Africa, where most of these cruises navigate, is notorious for its sometimes treacherous seas. Anticipate rocky seas -- and some seasickness if you don't have the sturdiest of sea legs. You'll find safari-minded shore excursions in several South African ports, with a few alternatives out of Mombasa in Kenya. Regent Seven Seas Cruises has a Cape Town roundtrip, 15-night itinerary (in November 2016) with opportunities for safari stops in South Africa, as well as a call in Walvis Bay, Namibia. You can also head to La Petite France in Réunion to a small distillery creating essential oils and perfumes from local rose geranium.

DIVE INTO THE DESERT

Africa is home to some of the most majestic species on the planet; lions and giraffes that wander across the vast plains of the savanna, and monkeys and gorillas that inhabit the lush canopies of the rainforests in South Africa. A cruise to Africa offers a once in a lifetime opportunity to set eyes on these incredible sights and create ever-lasting memories. So what are the benefits of checking off this bucket-list trip via cruise, and are there drawbacks? Here, we've outlined some of the major pros and cons of tackling a safari by cruise, instead of by the traditional land-based approach. Luanda, the capital of Angola, has been busy rebuilding since its civil war ended in 2002. Visitors can shop at a local market, have lunch and scope out the city’s landmarks and educate themselves about the country’s complex history as a source of slaves.

From the Middle East to Madagascar, from the Sahara Desert to South Africa’s fantastic wildlife and the exotic beaches of the Seychelles, Africa might just be the world’s most diverse continent. You won’t find anywhere quite like Africa with its sun-beaten deserts, the vast plains of the Serengeti and the cultural hub of Cape Town. As you cruise around Africa, you’ll be introduced to UNESCO World Heritage Sites and the unmistakeable sights and sounds of places like Madagascar and Zanzibar. Take a voyage with Cunard to a city that trades in high-octane extravagance.

After reaching Cape Town, Explorer will operate a second, 15-night Africa sailing that features stops in South Africa, Namibia and Mozambique. Kicking off Nov. 28, 2018, the Africa sailing also will include stops in Sao Tome and Principe as well as Namibia. The Cape Verde Islands off the African coast also are on the itinerary as is Madeira Island and two stops in the Canary Islands. The six-month-old Regent vessel will visit Senegal, Gambia, Ivory Coast, Ghana and Togo as it works it way south on a 24-night journey from Lisbon, Portugal to Cape Town, South Africa, the luxury line announced Wednesday. What's been billed as the world's most luxurious cruise ship, the 750-passenger Seven Seas Explorer, in 2018 will operate a voyage down the west coast of Africa -- a rarity in the cruise world.

Cruisers arrive at the Gateway to Mecca for an overnight, with options to travel to the holy city of Medina or take a boat trip to snorkel the Bayada Reef, known as the Maldives of Jeddah. From the dock in Safaga, Egypt, guests can embark on an all-day tour of Luxor or the famed Valley of the Kings. Expedition sailings in Africa take place on Silver Cloud, which is designed as an Expedition vessel and comes with equipment for snorkeling, kayaking and getting up close to your surroundings. Jump in and snorkel the waters of Djibouti with your ship’s expedition leader, or hop in a Zodiac for a cruise around Aldabra, an island in the Seychelles that’s home to a rare giant tortoise. The Western Sahara, known for its sparse population and its sandy desert about the size of China, inhabits 690 miles of coastline on the Atlantic Ocean. At Gabon, the North Atlantic becomes the South Atlantic Ocean, just south of the Gulf of Guinea.

Winter is one of the best times to visit the Arabian Gulf with a cruise, since it's still warm and dry here while it's cold and rainy in other parts of the world. Be prepared for a different kind of winter wonderland, as the rolling dunes of the desert stay warm and sunny year-round. The Arabian Gulf and North Africa mix heritage with modernity, so you're sure to find centuries-old forts and towers near sprawling cosmopolitan cityscapes. Whether you explore the area through a desert safari, shop 'til you drop in an enormous city mall or stroll the winding lanes of a traditional quarter, you'll find that in the Arabian Gulf, adventure is just around the corner. The top of many people’s lists when planning a cruise around Africa is going on a wildlife safari.

A small, historic Namibian town, Walvis Bay is the gateway to some outstanding natural attractions. With the highest sand dunes in the world, its surreal beauty is captivating. Durban is a cosmopolitan city and its complex history has led to a rich ethnic diversity. Immerse yourself in this multiculturalism by visiting the Zulu and Indian markets, full of aroma of exotic spices. Safari cruises are expensive, and should an illness or other unforeseen circumstance disrupt your travel plans, you'll get reimbursed if you've purchased insurance. Not to mention that your regular health insurance likely won't cover you during your travels in Africa -- another major area where travel insurance can step in should the unexpected occur.

The Cape of Good Hope provides ample port cities to learn about and to discover for yourself. After a sea day, cruisers arrive in Lüderitz, a German-Namibian city with a fraught past. It has plenty of European architecture on display, a stark contrast to the surrounding ghost town and flamingo-flecked coastline. If you’re flying to the second-largest continent in the world, you might be considering a pre- or post-cruise stay. A safari is a natural extension and is accessible from cruise ports including Cape Town, South Africa; Maputo, Mozambique; and Walvis Bay, Namibia.

Africa is, for example, more than 2 million square miles bigger than North America. The Sahara Desert alone is larger than the 48 contiguous United States combined. Mumbai is a bustling city where you’ll find packed trains, towering skyscrapers and a vibrant population that continues to grow. You can’t afford to miss out on Mahe's spectacular beaches, picturesque adventure spots and the “do-nothing” relaxation havens. Cruises to Africa are a great way to expand your imagination and delve deeper into the history of the Mediterranean region.

Learn more about the compelling history of the Gulf in the national museums of neighboring countries, or visit the fascinating Portuguese forts in Oman and Bahrain during your vacation. While Oman still has a more traditional culture, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Qatar have quickly become cosmopolitan destinations. If you're looking for a unique blend of ancient history and modern moments, these are the perfect places to visit. For example, if you are interested in safari, the best times for viewing varies between Southern and Eastern Africa and even the type of game you are hoping to see. In general, the drier seasons provide a better opportunity for viewing; between May and October in the south and January to March in the east.

And if you're looking for an even more unique experience, check out the glorious swim-out suites with private pools at Dreams. I recommend booking a split stay, starting at an all-inclusive resort in Guanacaste near the beach for some fun in the sun and moving to a resort near the famous Arenal Volcano for a jungle adventure.

For most people, it means that once you get onboard, many of the big decisions are taken care of for you. You don't have to worry about spending extra for drinks, alternative restaurants, Wi-Fi or gratuities. If your questions about Alaska aren't answered ashore, onboard guest speakers, such as naturalists, passionately share knowledge about the region's history, culture and environment. Dining on board is major; all five restaurants excel and are included in the fare (even the fanciest dishes, like prime dry-aged Angus steak and Maine lobster). A complimentary afternoon tea is served daily, with four-tiered pastry carts, artisanal brews and a live string quartet performing. Not to mention, Oceania Cruises' ships are stunning, even an older one like the 670-passenger Regatta.

Embark on a thrilling journey with young explorers through breathtaking landscapes. After traveling somewhere new, you want to bring something back with you to remember all of your fun adventures. The sheer size of Alaska lends itself to a wide variety of terrain and travel experiences. This diversity means you need to be prepared for a lot of change while traveling. I upgraded to the service at my favorite adults-only spot, Le Blanc Los Cabos, and I felt totally pampered.

Our cruisetours combine an ocean cruise with a land tour into Alaska’s interior. Watch northern wilderness views unfold from aboard our glass-domed train, the McKinley Explorer®. Stay up to 3 nights at the McKinley Chalet Resort near Denali National Park. Not all Royal Caribbean cruises in Alaska have an option to make your sailing all inclusive, but Quantum of the Seas ship, does. If you book a Star Class suite, you will receive a drink and specialty restaurant packages, as well as Wi-Fi and the butler services of a Royal Genie.

Founded in Alaska in 1996, the company has a strong pretense in The Great Land with seven-, 12- and 14-night itineraries that set sail April through September. All excursions are led by experienced expedition teams, who provide all the equipment needed to make the most of your time in Alaska. Nicknamed “The Love Boat,” Princess Cruises has been sailing to Alaska for more than 50 years, and is a terrific choice for couples looking to get away from it all.

Adults can enjoy themselves on an Alaskan Disney Cruise, too, with adult-exclusive dining; an adult-only pool and hot tub; fitness center; and Senses Spa & Salon. There are several ways that you can design an all-inclusive cruise in Alaska. You can go on a luxury cruise ship where everything is included in the price. You can book an upscale or mainstream ship and stay in a suite that has more amenities bundled in the fare. Or you can go with a small expedition ship that might not have a fancy onboard experience, but which offers an up-close and personal adventure in Alaska's wild and remote places.

Grand Turk Cruise Port Guide: Review 2023

grand turk carnival cruise port

If you are the active type book shore excursions and enjoy great diving and snorkeling spots, or just lay on Governor’s beach, the most beautiful beach on the island. Cruise ships dock at the Grand Turk cruise port, perfectly situated on the island’s southwestern coastline, right next to the breathtaking white sandy beach. There is one pier with two berths that can accommodate two large-sized vessels at the same time.

A Little History of Grand Turk

On the left side (north) of the Cruise Center, the traveler will find a very large Margaritaville bar, restaurant, with a huge pool and its signature retail shop - the Trading Post. Next to Margaritaville, you will find the Flow Rider surfing attraction that is exclusively offered as a shore excursion through the cruise lines. It is also on the North side that the most popular beach in Grand Turk is located - palm tree lined, with beach chairs on the white sugar powdered sand by the crystal clear turquoise water. If you’re a certified scuba diver, you probably already know that Grand Turk is surrounded by the third-largest coral reef in the world. A scuba dive excursion can take you inside the colorful explosion of color that lives beneath the water’s surface—and it all starts just a 10-minute boat ride away from where the cruise ships dock.

Spend some time in Margaritaville

Governor’s Beach is a little past the port, but it is not accessible unless you leave the port complex, as there is a cargo dock with no trespassing signage between the two beaches. This simulated surfing experience suits all levels, from beginners to experts. This is the same experience found on Royal Caribbean ships but is less reliable than its shipboard counterpart as it is only sometimes operational.

Grand Turk's Top Attractions

You don’t have to scuba to get up close to a stingray in Grand Turk. Excursions to the untouched island of Gibbs Cay provide an easy way to observe these unique sea creatures, whether you snorkel or simply watch the rays frolic in the shallows. Your visit to Gibbs Cay also includes the chance to try conch, a local delicacy plucked fresh from the ocean and prepared in front of you.

This location has a number of easily accessible beach options, including a beach as you step off the cruise ship. The Grand Turk Cruise Center is steps away from the cruise ship ports. There is plenty to do within the Cruise Center including a pristine beach, a swimming pool, bars, restaurants, and duty-free shopping. The white sand and calm, crystal-clear waters at Cockburn Town Beach are perfect for snorkeling.

Enjoy a tour of the island all the way into the shallow waters of the ocean on a horse’s back. The horses are handpicked for you from the ranch according to your preferences, fear, and comfort riding on horses. If you are looking for a bit of excitement and have always wanted to surf but never had the chance to, or was afraid of the ocean’s mighty waves, try the FlowRider. Located on the giant swimming pool at the cruise center, the FlowRider offers a surfing experience almost as exhilarating as the ocean. The largest salt formations can be seen at Hawkes Nest Salina, located near the cruise port, or at the Red Salina salt pond.

Learn about the day-to-day life of inmates as well as the mass escapes during the Great Hurricane of 1866. If you don’t want to do a sightseeing tour, you can catch a cab straight to Cockburn Town Beach, about a 10-minute ride from the Cruise Center. In the Cruise Center, near Margaritaville, you’ll find a self-contained water attraction called the FlowRider.

Whale Watch at the Grand Turk Lighthouse

In 1962 John Glenn splash landed off the west coast shores of the Grand Turk. He did so in his Friendship 7 Mercury spacecraft after being on a mission orbiting the earth. There is a replica of the spacecraft near the entrance of Grand Turk’s airport. The taxi stand is located to the left as you exit the airport terminal.

Visit Historic Cockburn Town

grand turk carnival cruise port

In the center area surrounding the plaza are a number of shops, selling everything from t-shirts to an actual Starbucks location. If you’re wanting a souvenir to remember your trip, you’re sure to find something here. Walk down the dock and you’ll enter the port area through a duty-free store. The ocean at the Cruise Center Beach is almost always calm and clear, and the majority of the coastline is clean soft sand.

Many tours include additional stops to snorkel and some have a unique opportunity to dive for conch and feast on fresh conch salad. You won’t want to miss out on the stunning beaches and chance to interact with marine life at Gibbs Cay. The cruise ships dock at a pier that is located south of Cockburn Town.

If you’ve always wanted to hang ten, Grand Turk is the place to do it, no experience necessary. At the Grand Turk Cruise Center, you can sign up for a 30-minute body- or knee-boarding session on the FlowRider, which simulates the feel of ocean waves. Enjoy the ride and don’t forget to smile—photographers are on hand to capture your moment of glory, or perhaps a wipe-out to laugh about later. If you’re interested in finding an authentic Turks and Caicos gift, see Shopping in the Turks and Caicos for ideas. For those who don’t want to make the 10-minute walk to Jack’s Shack, a taxi ride costs about $7 each way. Note that the walk is not accessible for people with mobility issues.

You can find Caribbean cruises to book including the Carnival Cruise Line destination of Grand Turk. Take a look at this tour of Grand Turk from our friends at I Like Cruise Ships. Once you have learned to use the Segway, you can tour through the historic district and explore the Bermudian-style architecture along with the historic churches. It features a swim-up bar, a trading post and serves delicious meals in the assortment of American, Caribbean and Mexican menus. Fill up on as much as you can and kick back and relax just a few minutes away from the ship. The best times to visit Grand Turk are between May and October as that’s when the weather is nice and sunny.

Grand Turk island is the site of the world’s third-largest coral reef structure. Your best option is to grab a quick taxi which should cost around $4 per person each way. Governor’s Beach is perfect for sunbathing or swimming, however, the absence of reef in this area means this isn’t the beach for snorkeling or scuba diving. However, if you want to go on your own it is an easy 20-minute taxi ride, golf cart or bicycle ride to get there.

To book a diving excursion, you must present a valid C-Card and must have logged a dive within the last two years. Also nearby is a statue of a breaching humpback whale, highlighting the excellent whale watching at Grand Turk during the winter months. A little-known fact is the island of Grand Turk played a part in the 1962 Mercury Space Mission. John Glenn’s first step on dry land after returning to Earth was on Grand Turk, and a U.S.

The museum has a collection of artifacts that tell the story of the islands’ history, including exhibits on the Lucayan Indians, the salt industry, and the wreck of the Molasses Reef. A highlight is a replica of a traditional Caicos sloop used for fishing and transportation in the 18th and 19th centuries. A wide range of water sports and activities are available right off the ship, like diving, parasailing, and floating obstacle courses.

At Dive-In Movies, you’ll never have to choose between making a splash and watching a favorite movie under the stars, up on the big screen. THAT OUGHT TO BE ENOUGH FUN FOR ANYONE!

Carnival Elation is currently the fleet's oldest ship, debuting in March 1998, and the only cruise ship from any cruise line that sails from Jacksonville, Florida. Even though the ship is small, with a total guest capacity of 2,606, it’s ideal for a quick weekend away if you want a mix of relaxation and high-energy activities. I've sailed the most on Carnival Elation since the ship sails from my hometown of Jacksonville.

Carnival Dream

This is a notable change for the brand from just a couple of decades ago. There was a time when Carnival operated some of the biggest cruise ships in the world. The self-described "fun ship" line is the king of short, affordable, fun-focused cruises from U.S. ports to the Caribbean, Bahamas, Mexico and other nearby destinations. No matter where you live in the U.S., you're probably within a few hours of a Carnival ship.

In short, there's a ton to do up top on Carnival vessels — and it's almost all available to every passenger on board the vessels at no extra charge (the roller coaster is the only exception). Every Carnival ship has a casino, usually smack in the middle of the main entertainment deck. Carnival is also well known for the Punchliner Comedy Clubs on its ships, which draw quality comedians and can get a little raucous late at night with adult-only performances. In addition, every ship has at least one — and usually several — extra-charge eateries.

ONBOARD DINING

If you make a reservation through the app, you'll receive a notification to report to the host stand when your table is ready. Done up in bright, tropical colors, these rooms offer extended outdoor lounge space and private access to the Havana Pool and Bar area. It was completely different — different color, different taste and different presentation — from what I received when I ordered the same drink on a sailing two months prior.

Meet Carnival Celebration®

When you book with one of our partners, please be sure to check their site for a full disclosure of all applicable fees as required by the U.S. Inside, you'll find activities that range from trivia and Bingo during the day to comedy shows and high-tech song-and-dance revues at night. Carnival ships also have lively bar nightlife, especially on ships with a RedFrog Pub; there's also an always-busy casino. In other words, if you are sailing seven-night cruises, you will be Gold level on your fourth sailing, as you will be passing the 25-day mark on that sailing.

As you step into a Junior Suite aboard Carnival Valor, you can’t help but feel that you’re stepping into full-size luxury in a smaller package. Featuring a standard-size balcony, in a Carnival Valor Junior Suite you'll find everything else there is to love about a suite, including VIP check-in, a walk-in closet… and even a whirlpool tub for relaxing. Find out which fun ingredients — staterooms, dining, activities — go into each deck. Kids can get caught up in all the excitement of being kids, hanging with others their age at Carnival Valor's three supervised youth spaces.

The ship debuted the restaurant Cucina del Capitano, which is now onboard multiple ships in the fleet. I sailed the Carnival Magic years ago, but I vividly remember spending an entire day enjoying the amenities at the Cloud 9 Spa and eating at the Mongolian Wok quick-service restaurant almost every afternoon for lunch. Carnival Sunrise  (formerly Carnival Triumph) features an exciting splash zone for kids and a piano bar where adults can sing along to their favorite songs all night. The ship sails on two to five-night and six to nine-night cruises from Miami, Florida, to the Bahamas.

The ship shares Carnival's "zone" concept with its two older sisters, meaning it has dedicated areas for dining, drinking, entertainment and outdoor fun, including Bolt, a top-deck roller coaster. You know we definitely see our share of coastal areas, so it’s easy to imagine how special a place it is to us. That’s why paying tribute to the magical spot where the water meets the land just feels so natural.

The space is simply packed with tables — so much so that there were only about two inches between my table and the one next to me, even though I was dining alone. It then took nearly 10 minutes for a waiter to bring me water and another 10 before someone came to take my order. Dinner reservations are recommended for many eateries, even the main dining rooms. You can make them by visiting your restaurant of choice or by using the HUB app. If you don't make one, you might find yourself waiting 20 minutes or more for a table at peak times.

Pay a fee to ride, and you (or you and a friend) can navigate two laps of twists and turns around the ship's funnel as you use the throttle and hyper-boost buttons to try to break the day's speed record. (Yes, you'll be timed, and don't forget to smile for a photo.) The ocean views from above are totally worth the cost. Carnival Jubilee's demographics run the gamut from families with young kids or extended family groups to groups of friends, couples and even solo cruisers (even though it doesn't have any cabins for singles). Designed for kicking back al fresco, you’re in for some amazing ocean views… views so stunning you’ll just have to feel ‘em to believe ‘em. And any time you’re in your well-appointed Balcony stateroom aboard Carnival Jubilee™, you’re just steps away from the outdoors by way of your private open-air oasis. Grand Central is designed to make an impression… and that’s good because it’s going to be your first one!

If you want to sail the nicest, newest ships then you normally have to pony up some cash. As a rule of thumb, newer ships have higher price tags to sail. And in an unusual move for these sort of lengthy trips, the cruise is aboard Carnival Panorama — one of the newer ships in the fleet. If there is anything better than a cruise, it’s getting a great deal on that trip. And if you’re looking for a deal, then Carnival is one of your best options. Carnival Legend, themed around legends and lore around the world, has two pools and plenty of places to grab a bite, including the Golden Fleece Steakhouse for a stunning multi-course dinner.

Carnival Jubilee offers a full roundup of daily activities on each voyage. I also wasn't impressed with how long it took a bartender to ask for my order, especially since it wasn't particularly crowded. In addition to a fun selection of cocktails — some of which involve candy — the bar's theme is tied to an animated octopus named Dr. Inks. She has a Ph.D., pet butterflies and extensive collections of both books and fashionable eyewear.

A great deal on a fall cruise is this trip that departs Port Canaveral in mid-October. Depart from the Orlando area and you’ll have stops at Half Moon Cay (Carnival’s private destination), Grand Turk, and Amber Cove. If you want inexpensive but also want to cruise more than three or four nights, this is the least expensive 7-night cruise we found for all of 2024. The cruise aboard Carnival Magic departs Miami, headed to the eastern Caribbean.
